The Tabernacle Story
The Start
The Tabernacle Experience was birthed from a Vision from God to bring a holy alternative to the Halloween season. Daren Mizner, retired large-events company owner, felt called to build a tabernacle event for families to visit, able to focus on the wonderful things that Jesus did for us modeled in Exodus at a time when our culture is celebrating darkness and death. Thus, the Tabernacle Experience was born and brought to the Tri-Cities, WA community in October of 2023.
The Miracle of the Build
Because a Tabernacle model couldn't be bought, it had to be built. Every piece was handcrafted through deep scriptural study and "garage sale miracles"—including crown molding and poles found through divine timing. It stands as a physical testimony that God provides exactly what He commands.
The Team Behind the Mission
God assembled a "living Tabernacle" of dedicated hearts to bring this vision to life:
• The Family Daren was anchored by the constant support of his wife, Rhea, and his children, who helped him study the Word and deepened his relationship with God. Additionally, his parents, brothers and their wives, and his sister traveled from different states to assist with the physical labor of the setup.
• The Partners Ron Sabin joined after a vision from God, and Pastor John Spier opened the doors of Grace Point Church for this powerful mission.
The Journey to Jesus
Our tour walks visitors from Genesis to the Tabernacle, revealing how Jesus is woven into every chapter of the Old Testament. We follow the lineage of faith from Noah and Abraham through the Exodus, showing that the Messiah was the plan from the beginning.
The encounter culminates at the Ark of the Covenant, where the Holy Spirit moves hearts to tears, leading directly to the Cross—the place where the "Golden Thread" of history is tied and where Jesus finally crushes the head of the serpent.
The Team Behind the Mission
Meet Daren & Rhea
Daren, founder of the Tabernacle Experience, had a 20 year business in large events in Colorado and Idaho. Following a on-job TBI which left him having to relearn to much, he retired early and moved to the Tri-Cities in 2015. Being a committed Christian, Daren was open to the voice of the Lord’s calling on his life, but due to his injuries struggled to know how to serve. After a call from the Lord one night to build a tabernacle for the Tri-Cities, Daren’s body and mind quickly and miraculously were healed as he began stepping out in obedience. Daren still relies on his wonderful partner, his wife Rhea, but the Lord has blessed him in his affliction.
Rhea, Retiring at 60 allowed her to transition into full-time service for God. A Christian for over 30 years and married for 37, she is a devoted support to her disabled husband, managing everything from marketplace pickups to endless supply runs. With two sons and four grandchildren, her life is a testament to family and faith. Her deep study of the Tabernacle has brought her closer to God; she is amazed to realize the Tabernacle is woven through the Holy Bible.
Meet Ron
Ron Sabin legacy is defined by a lifetime of dedicated service. A U.S. Air Force veteran and pilot of 56 years with 15,000 flight hours, Ron also served 24 years as Benton County Sheriff. Beyond his career as a rancher and horse breeder, Ron’s path took a divine turn during our very first practice. After witnessing a vision of Jesus on the cross at the Ark of the Covenant, he heard a clear mandate from God to join our mission and officially became a partner in the Tabernacle.
Meet Cheyenne
Cheyenne Mizner was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, with a lifelong dedication to the Christian faith and biblical study. Her time with YWAM deepened her appreciation for Scripture and biblical context while fostering a passion for teaching, which has profoundly shaped her spiritual journey. She is a proud and dedicated member of The Tabernacle Experience team, an organization she deeply values.
